Genuine Fisher & Paykel fan blade 820117 is the 80mm clockwise blade assembly for the evaporator fan in a range of fridge freezers. It also carries the number 805428. Listed models are the E169TL and E169TR, the E240BL and E240BR, the E249TL and E249TR, plus the N249T and N308. Swap it in when the original blade is cracked, chipped or loose on the motor shaft.
Noisy or warm fridge? Check the evaporator fan blade
In a frost free fridge freezer, the evaporator fan pulls air across the cold coil and pushes it through the freezer and into the fresh food side. The blade does the actual moving of air. If it cracks, loses a fin or slips on the motor shaft, airflow drops and the fridge section warms up even though the freezer may still feel cold. A damaged or ice-bound blade can also rattle, tick or scrape. Ice build-up around the fan often points to a defrost fault, so clear it and check the defrost system as well.

Fitting the fan blade
Unplug the fridge first. Remove the freezer shelves and the evaporator cover to reach the fan, letting any ice melt rather than chipping at it. Note which way the blade faces on the shaft, then pull the old one off squarely. Push the new blade on to the same depth, spin it by hand to check it clears the shroud, and refit the cover before plugging back in.

Does the rotation direction matter?
Yes. This is the clockwise blade, and a blade pitched for the other direction moves very little air. Match it to the blade you are replacing and to the direction the motor turns.
