Product details

If the fridge door no longer pulls in tight, or a sheet of paper slides past the seal with no grip, it is time for a new gasket. Part 819822P is the genuine Fisher & Paykel door seal made for the E522B fridge. It is listed for E522BL and E522BR models in their E, M, X and XFD versions, as well as RF522WDL, RF522WDR and RF522BRDB5 models, and is cross referenced to 883739P.

Fisher & Paykel fridge not sealing? Check the gasket

The door seal is a magnetic rubber gasket that closes the gap between door and cabinet, keeping cold air in and warm, moist air out. Over time the rubber hardens, splits at the corners or loses its magnetic grip. Once that happens, warm air leaks in, so the fridge runs more often, the cabinet sweats, frost or ice builds up and food spoils sooner. You might also see mould in the folds, condensation on the outside of the door or a seal that stays flat instead of springing back.

Fitting a new fridge door seal

Unplug the fridge and empty the door. Unpack the new seal a day or so early, and warm any creases with a hair dryer on a low setting so it lies flat. Remove the old seal one side at a time, noting how it is held, then fit the new one starting at the top corners and working down. Close the door and check it seals all round before switching the fridge back on.

Do I need to know which door this is for?

Yes. Check the old seal and your model's rating label before ordering. If you are unsure whether you need the fridge door or the freezer seal, send the model through the parts enquiry form and we can confirm it for you.
