Product details

A fridge door that drifts open or won't swing shut on its own often has a worn closing bearing. Part 813527P is the genuine Fisher & Paykel right hand door closing bearing in grey. It's on file for the E169TL and E169TR, the E240BR and E249TR, and the C270R and P120R.

Why your Fisher & Paykel fridge door won't close by itself

The door closing bearing sits at the hinge and works with it to pull the door the last part of the way shut, holding it firmly against the seal. When the plastic wears or cracks, the door can stay slightly ajar, especially after a bump. You may find frost building up in the freezer, condensation around the seal, a warm fridge or the compressor running much longer than usual. A door that drops or rubs as it closes is another clue.

Fitting the door closing bearing

Unplug the fridge and empty the door shelves so the door is light and easy to handle. With a helper supporting the door, remove the hinge fixings, take off the worn bearing and fit the new one in the same orientation. Refit the door, check it sits level and that the seal closes evenly all round, then test that it swings shut from part open.

Questions about this part

Is this a left or right hand part?

It's the right hand version. The hand you need can depend on which side your door hinges, so compare it with the worn bearing and confirm your model is on file. If unsure, send the model through the parts enquiry form.
