When the oven function switch is the problem
Every cooking mode on the knob depends on this switch sending power to the right parts. Choose fan forced and it should bring on the fan and fan element, choose grill and the top element should glow. When the switch fails, one or more settings stop working, the oven may heat on some positions and stay cold on others, or the light and fan behave oddly. Heat getting behind the control panel can also cook the switch, leaving brown or melted marks around the terminals. Testing continuity on each position confirms the fault.

Fitting tips
Shut off power at the switchboard and let the oven cool. Remove the knob and panel, then take photos of the wiring from a couple of angles before unplugging anything.
