Smeg oven functions not working properly?
When you turn the function knob, the selector switch connects the right combination of elements, fan, grill and light for that setting. Its internal contacts wear and burn with use, especially if a shorted element has pushed heavy current through them. Typical faults are an oven that heats on some settings but not others, the wrong element coming on, a function that only works with the knob held at an angle, or a switch that feels loose or gritty. Fitting the selector switch
Isolate the oven at the switchboard or isolating switch before removing the control panel. Built-in ovens are usually hard-wired, so a licensed electrician should do this work. Photograph the switch from several angles before removing any wires, move them across one at a time, and replace any terminals that are scorched. Test each function before refitting the oven into its cavity.
