Front loader won't start or the door stays locked?
A front loader won't fill or spin until the door lock confirms the door is shut and latched. The lock holds the door closed through the cycle and releases it once the machine decides it's safe to open. When the lock fails, the washer may refuse to start, flash a door error, stop partway through, or hum and click without the lock engaging. The opposite fault is just as common, with the door stuck locked after the cycle ends. A broken door catch can cause similar symptoms, so check that as well.

Fitting the door lock
Turn the washer off at the wall and unplug it. If the door is stuck shut, a repairer may need to release the lock from inside the cabinet. Ease back the door boot clamp far enough to reach the lock, undo its screws, then photograph the connector before unplugging it. Fit the new lock, refit the boot evenly, and run a rinse to check it locks and releases.
