Smeg fan oven not heating properly?
In fan forced mode, the ring element behind the rear panel heats the air while the fan pushes it around the cavity. When the element burns out, the fan still runs and the light comes on, but the oven stays cold or takes forever to reach temperature. Some elements fail with a bang and trip the safety switch, often after a hot spot splits the sheath. Look for blistering, a visible break or burn marks once the back cover is off, and confirm with a multimeter before ordering.

Fitting a fan forced element
Isolate the oven at the switchboard and let it cool. Remove the shelves and the rear fan cover, then undo the element screws and ease it forward until the terminals are reachable. Photograph the wiring before disconnecting. Fit the new element, reconnect, refit the cover and run the oven on fan forced to check it heats. A hard-wired oven needs a licensed electrician.
