Product details

Fisher & Paykel's 794005 is the genuine cavity fan, the fan inside the oven that moves hot air around the food on fan forced functions. F&P's description doesn't say whether it is the blade alone or a complete motor and blade, so compare it with your old part. Without any models on file for 794005, check the number on your parts list or send your oven's model and serial number to confirm.

Fan forced oven cooking unevenly? Signs of a fan fault

On fan forced settings, the cavity fan at the back of the oven circulates heated air so every shelf cooks at a similar rate. If the fan stops, food browns on one side or one shelf, cooking takes longer and the oven may struggle to reach temperature. A damaged or loose fan can also scrape, rattle or squeal, and a fan that wobbles can wear out its motor bearings. If the fan doesn't spin at all, check the motor as well, as a failed motor and a broken fan can look much the same.

Replacing the cavity fan

Let the oven cool and isolate it at the switchboard. Ovens are generally hard-wired, so call a licensed electrician if the motor needs disconnecting. Remove the shelves and back cover to reach the fan. Check whether the retaining nut has a left-hand thread before undoing it. Fit the new fan, spin it by hand to check it runs true, then test on a fan forced setting.
