Bosch dishwasher door dropping open or slamming shut?
A dishwasher door is balanced by a spring on each side, connected to the hinge by a cord. Together they take the weight of the door so it opens smoothly, holds part way and closes without force. When a cord frays and snaps or a spring stretches, the door falls open with a bang, feels heavy on one side, or will not stay closed. You may hear a twang when a cord lets go. Replacing the door springs and cords
Switch off at the wall and turn off the tap. The dishwasher usually has to be unscrewed from the bench and slid forward to reach the springs at the sides near the base. Unhook the old spring and cord on one side, route the new cord exactly as the old one ran, then repeat on the other side. Test the door at a few positions before pushing the machine back.
