DeLonghi coffee machine brew unit problems
The infuser is where the coffee is actually made. It takes the ground coffee, compacts it, pushes hot water through the puck under pressure and then drops the spent grounds into the bin. Its seals and moving parts wear with use, and old coffee oils can make it stiff. A tired brew unit causes weak or watery coffee, water in the grounds container, sloppy wet pucks, leaks inside the machine, or a unit that jams and won't seat back in. If the problem persists after the infuser has been cleaned and lubricated, replacement is the next step.

Swapping the infuser
Switch the machine off, unplug it and let it cool. Open the service door on the side, press the release buttons on the brew unit and pull it out. Rinse the cavity and let it dry. Before sliding the new unit in, check it's in the same rest position the old one came out in, then push until it clicks. Close the door and run a rinse before making coffee.
