Product details
Part 6914JB2006N is a genuine LG timer module for refrigerators. In frost free fridges the defrost timer switches the compressor off at set intervals and runs the defrost heater, melting frost off the evaporator coil. LG lists a closely related defrost timer as 6914JB2006R, and the two have separate numbers, so check the code printed on your old timer. No model list is on file for this one, but we can check your model through the parts enquiry form.
Fridge warm but freezer frosted up?
If the defrost timer stops advancing, the fridge either never defrosts or gets stuck in defrost. In the first case, ice builds up over the evaporator coil behind the freezer panel, airflow into the fridge drops and the fresh food section warms up while the freezer still feels cold. In the second, the compressor stays off and everything warms. Other clues are a frost covered back panel in the freezer or water leaking after a manual defrost. A failed defrost heater or thermostat can cause similar trouble, so test those too.

Changing the timer
Unplug the fridge before you start. The timer is often behind the kickplate, in the control housing or on the back, depending on the model. Note or photograph the wire positions before disconnecting them and transfer them to the same terminals on the new timer. If the coil is iced up, let it defrost fully before restarting so you can tell whether the repair has worked.
Questions about this part
How can I test if the defrost timer has failed?
If your timer has a slot on its face, it can often be advanced by hand with a screwdriver. If the compressor stops and the defrost heater comes on when advanced, the old timer is the likely fault. Electronic timers need checking by a technician instead.
