Replacing a cracked fridge crisper drawer
The vegetable container is the drawer at the bottom of the fresh food section, designed to keep fruit and vegetables in a slightly more humid space than the rest of the fridge. Drawers crack from overloading, from being knocked when they're pulled out, or from being bumped while cold. A broken drawer can drag on its runners, spill liquid onto the fridge floor and let produce dry out faster. The right replacement should sit on the existing runners and line up with the shelf or cover above it.

Swapping the crisper drawer
Empty the drawer and pull it out to its stop, then lift the front to release it from the runners. With some fridges the door must be fully open, past 90 degrees, before the drawer will clear. Wash the new container in warm soapy water, dry it, and slide it in. Check it runs smoothly and closes fully.
