When the water lever stops doing anything, this small switch is a likely culprit.
LG fridge water dispenser not working
Pressing the water lever pushes against this micro switch, which signals the fridge to open the water valve. Release the lever and the switch opens again, stopping the flow. With heavy daily use, the contacts inside wear or the tiny plunger sticks. Then the dispenser may do nothing at all, work only when you press really hard, cut in and out, or keep running after you let go. If the ice side still works but water won't come out and the filter isn't blocked, the switch is worth testing.

Replacing the dispenser switch
Unplug the fridge or switch it off at the wall. The switch sits behind the dispenser, which usually means removing the dispenser trim, so work carefully to avoid cracking any clips. Take a photo of which wire goes on which terminal, swap the switch over and check it clicks cleanly when the lever is pressed before refitting the trim.
