Dishwasher not heating or washing properly
The heat pump circulates water through the spray arms while its built-in heater brings the water up to temperature. When the heater side fails, dishes come out cold and greasy and the machine may stop with a heating fault. When the pump side goes, you may hear humming or grinding, see the spray arms barely turning, or find the cycle stalling with water in the base. Leaks from the pump's seals into the base can also trigger the anti-flood protection.

Heat pump replacement tips
Switch off at the wall, turn off the tap and pull the dishwasher out of its cavity. Most BSH machines need to be laid on their back or have the base opened to reach the pump, so put towels down for trapped water. Photograph the hose clamps and plugs, transfer them to the new pump, then run a full hot program and check for leaks.
