It reads air pressure in a tube connected to the tub to work out how much water is in the machine. No model list is on file, so check that the number on your old sensor, or in your washer's parts list, shows 6501EA1001R or EBF62754506.
LG top loader overfilling or not filling?
As the tub fills, water pushes air up a thin hose to the pressure sensor. The sensor turns that pressure into a signal the main board uses to stop filling at the right level and to check the tub has drained. A faulty sensor can make the washer overfill and spill, stop filling too early, keep filling and draining, refuse to spin, or show a water level error. Before replacing it, check the pressure hose for kinks, splits or a blockage at the tub end, as that causes the same symptoms.

Fitting the pressure sensor
Unplug the washer and turn off both taps. The sensor is usually found under the top panel or behind the controls. Photograph the wiring plug and hose position, transfer the hose to the new sensor and make sure it's pushed fully on. Run a short fill to check the water stops at the correct level.
