Lost, cracked or stripped the pump filter cap on your Bosch front loader? This genuine BSH cap, part 647920 (often written 00647920), screws into the drain pump housing behind the small flap at the bottom of the machine. It replaces several earlier numbers, including 00144992 and 00145776, and is listed for a long run of Bosch WAE, WAS, WAW, WAP and WVH models, plus Siemens WM series washers.

The cap is the screw-in handle and plug that closes off the drain pump filter, also called the lint or coin trap. It holds back buttons, coins, hair pins and fluff before they reach the pump impeller, and the seal on the cap keeps water in the housing. A cap that has cracked, lost its seal or been cross-threaded will leak water out under the machine, usually most noticeable while it drains. A missing cap leaves the pump open entirely. If the washer is leaking at the bottom front, or the cap won't tighten and seal, replacing it is a quick first fix.

Fitting the pump filter cap
Switch the washer off at the wall first. Put a shallow tray and towels down, open the service flap and let out any water left in the housing through the emergency drain hose if your model has one. Unscrew the old cap, clear lint and debris from the housing, then screw in the new cap by hand until it seats firmly. Run a rinse and drain to check for leaks.
