The rating tells you how stiff it is. Springs that look alike can have very different rates, so a close match on the number matters more than appearance. Look for 629930 on your parts list, or bring your E-Nr and FD number to the parts enquiry form and we'll check it.

Understanding an 8N/mm spring rate

A spring rate of 8N/mm means the spring needs about 8 newtons of force to stretch or compress it by each millimetre. Appliance makers choose rates carefully, because springs hold drums, doors and mechanisms in balance. Fit a spring that's too soft and a door may drop or a drum may knock. Too stiff and parts can bind or wear early. A stretched, rusted or broken spring often shows up as banging, a door that won't stay where you leave it, or a part sitting out of position.

Part details

Genuine BSH part 629930

Also listed as 00629930

Spring rate 8N/mm

For Bosch, Siemens and Neff appliances

Spring rate

8N/mm

Changing the spring

Isolate the appliance at the wall before opening any panels. Springs store energy, so wear safety glasses and release the load before unhooking the old one. Note which hole or slot each end sat in. If your appliance uses springs in pairs, check the other one for stretching or rust, as an uneven pair can upset the balance.

Questions about this part

Can I use any spring of the same size?

It's not a good idea. Two springs can look identical but have different rates. This one is rated at 8N/mm, so matching the BSH number gives you the tension the appliance was designed around.
