This genuine BSH ignition electrode, part 623915, is the spark plug that lights the wok burner on Bosch, Siemens and Neff gas cooktops. It sits beside the burner and throws a spark across to the burner base when you push and turn the knob. BSH also lists it as 00623915. Wok burners are bigger than the standard rings, so the electrode for that position may differ from the ones under the smaller burners.

Wok burner clicking but not lighting

When you turn a wok burner knob, the spark module sends a high voltage pulse down a lead to this electrode, and the spark jumps to the burner to ignite the gas. A cracked insulator is the usual failure. The spark then tracks to the cooktop frame instead of the burner, so you hear clicking but see no flame, or the spark looks weak. Electrodes can also be damaged by heavy pots, boil-overs or harsh cleaning, and a burner that only lights with a match is a strong sign this part needs replacing.

Fitting a wok burner electrode

Turn off the gas at the isolation valve and switch the cooktop off at the wall before you start. Electrode replacement usually means lifting the cooktop and unplugging the ignition lead from the spark module, so in Australia it should be done by a licensed gas fitter. The tip needs to sit at the same gap from the burner as the old one. Finish by testing that every burner lights cleanly.
