Product details

6160595 is a Bromic natural gas regulator in a 1/2 inch size. A regulator takes the incoming gas supply and drops it to a steady, controlled pressure for the appliance it feeds, so burners get a consistent flame. This one is for natural gas only and must not be used on LPG. Installation has to be carried out by a licensed gas fitter, who will confirm it suits the appliance's required pressure and flow.

When a gas regulator needs replacing

Regulators use a spring-loaded diaphragm to hold outlet pressure steady as demand changes. As the diaphragm ages or the internals get contaminated, pressure can drift. Low pressure shows up as weak, lazy or yellow flames, burners that struggle to stay alight on low and slow heat-up. High or unstable pressure gives noisy, lifting flames and can make appliances run hotter than designed. A smell of gas near the regulator, a damaged vent or visible corrosion are reasons to call a gas fitter straight away, not to keep using it.

Installation by a licensed gas fitter

Gas regulators must be installed by a licensed gas fitter in Australia. They'll isolate the gas supply, check the regulator matches the gas type, pressure setting and flow the appliance needs, fit it the right way round for the direction of flow, leak test every joint and check the operating pressure at the appliance. Never adjust or swap a regulator yourself.

Questions about this part

Can I use this regulator on an LPG appliance?

No. This is a natural gas regulator. LPG runs at different pressures and needs a regulator made for it. Your gas fitter will confirm the right regulator for your appliance and gas type.
