Baumatic oven grill not heating?
The upper element sits in the roof of the oven and supplies the direct top heat used for grilling, browning and finishing dishes. Being rated 1200W plus 1800W, it has more than one heating circuit, which ovens typically use to offer different grill settings. When a circuit burns out, the grill may not glow at all, heat only part of the element or take ages to brown toast and cheese. Visible breaks, bubbles or bright hot spots on the sheath are common signs, and a shorted element can trip the safety switch when the grill is turned on.

Fitting the grill element
Switch the oven off at the isolator or circuit breaker and let it cool. Grill elements are usually held by screws through the back wall or the roof of the cavity, with the terminals behind. Photograph the wiring before you disconnect it, as an element with two circuits has several terminals that must go back on the right posts. Hard-wired ovens need a licensed electrician to reconnect.
