Gas burners not sparking? The ignition box may be faulty

When you push and turn a burner knob, a switch behind it signals the ignition box, which turns mains power into high voltage pulses. These travel down the ignition leads to the spark electrodes at each burner. A failing box can stop sparking altogether, spark weakly so the gas is slow to light, or keep clicking after the knob is released. Before replacing it, check that the electrodes are clean and dry and that the leads aren't cracked, since moisture from a spill is a common cause of constant clicking.

Fitting the ignition box
