A cross flow fan has dozens of thin curved blades, and the gaps between them gradually fill with dust, grease and mould. Replacing the cross flow fan

Turn the air conditioner off at the isolating switch or breaker. Changing the fan usually means removing the cover, the drain tray and sometimes loosening the coil, so it's a job for a licensed air conditioning technician.
