Product details
Inside an LG wall split indoor unit, the long barrel shaped fan that pushes air out through the louvres is the cross flow fan. Part 5901A20017F is a genuine LG cross flow fan assembly. LG has other versions under similar numbers, including 5901A20017H, which is a separate part, so check the full code including the last letter. There's no model list on file, so send the indoor unit's model through the parts enquiry form if you'd like us to confirm.
Signs of a worn air conditioner cross flow fan
The cross flow fan draws room air through the filter and coil and sends it back out as cool or warm air. Over time the blades collect a sticky layer of dust and mould, which reduces airflow and can throw the barrel out of balance. A cracked blade, a split hub or a worn bearing at the end leads to wobbling, ticking, rumbling or squealing from the indoor unit. Weak airflow even on high fan speed and a musty smell are other signs to check the fan.

Swapping the cross flow fan
Switch the air conditioner off and isolate the power before opening the indoor unit. Getting the fan out usually means removing the front cover and lowering or tilting the coil, so take photos of the wiring and pipe positions as you go. Seat the new fan on the motor shaft in the same position. If you're not confident working near the coil and pipework, use a licensed air conditioning technician.
Questions about this part
Can a dirty cross flow fan be cleaned instead?
Often yes, if the blades and hub are undamaged. Replace the fan when it's cracked, out of balance or still noisy after cleaning. If you go ahead, match 5901A20017F to the code on your old fan before ordering.
