Product details
Ovens push warm air out from behind the controls with a tangential fan, and 578636 is the genuine Fisher & Paykel motor for that type of fan. Tangential, or cross flow, fans use a long barrel shaped impeller rather than a blade. No model list is on file, so compare the motor, its mounting and the impeller connection with your old one, or send your model through the parts enquiry form.
Cooling fan noisy or not running
The cooling fan keeps the controls, wiring and cabinetry around the oven at a safe temperature, and often runs on after cooking until the oven has cooled. When its motor fails, you might hear rattling, humming or squealing, or notice the fan doesn't run at all. Then the control knobs and front panel get hot, steam may condense on the panel, and an overheat limiter can trip and shut the oven down. Don't keep using an oven whose cooling fan has stopped.
Part details
- Genuine Fisher & Paykel part 578636
- Tangential (cross flow) fan motor
- Drives the oven cooling fan
- Electrical part for hard-wired ovens, licensed electrician to fit
Fitting the cooling fan motor
Isolate the oven at the switchboard and let it cool before removing it from the cabinet or opening the top panel. A licensed electrician should do the job. Note how the impeller attaches to the motor shaft and how the wiring is routed. Check the impeller turns freely after fitting, and that the fan runs when the oven heats.
Questions about this part
Does this include the fan impeller?
It is listed as the tangential fan motor. Impellers and fan housings are often separate parts, so check your old assembly and ask through the parts enquiry form if you need the full fan.
