It's the knob you turn to choose how the oven cooks, so a broken or slipping one makes the oven hard to set correctly.

Oven function knob spinning, cracked or falling off?

A function knob takes a beating. It's turned every day, gets splashed with grease and is often grabbed as a handhold. Over time the insert that grips the selector switch shaft wears or splits, so the knob spins without changing the setting, falls off, or points to the wrong function. Faded markings, cracks and heat damage are other reasons to replace it. If the knob turns the shaft but nothing changes, the selector switch behind it may be the real problem.

Part details

Genuine Fisher & Paykel knob 578410

Multi-function oven selector dial

Listed for the OR90SCG1X1 freestanding cooker

Fitting the new knob

Turn the cooker off at the wall and make sure the oven and cooktop are cool.
