Oven function knob spinning, cracked or falling off?
A function knob takes a beating. It's turned every day, gets splashed with grease and is often grabbed as a handhold. Over time the insert that grips the selector switch shaft wears or splits, so the knob spins without changing the setting, falls off, or points to the wrong function. Fitting the new knob
Turn the cooker off at the wall and make sure the oven and cooktop are cool. Pull the old knob straight off its shaft without twisting, which can damage the switch. Line up the flat on the shaft with the new knob, push it home and check it turns smoothly through every setting.
