Why a flat shelf for your Fisher & Paykel oven

Oven shelves carry trays, dishes and roasting pans at the height you choose, sliding along the side runners or shelf supports. A flat shelf gives a level surface without a dip or step, which suits baking trays and large dishes. Shelves get bent under heavy roasts, warped by grill heat, chipped or rusted by harsh cleaners, or simply go missing after a move. A shelf that tilts or rocks lets food slide and cook unevenly, while being a shelf short limits how much you can cook at once.

Fitting the shelf

Make sure the oven is cool. Check which way round the old shelf sat, as many shelves have a raised back rail or small stops that prevent them being pulled out by accident. Slide the new shelf onto the runners at the height you want, pull it forward until it stops, and confirm it sits level before loading it.

Questions about this part

Do I need my exact model number to order a shelf?

It helps a lot, as shelves vary between oven sizes and ranges. This one is listed for OB90S9 ovens such as the OB90S9MEPX3 and for OR90SDB cookers. The model number is on the rating label, usually visible around the oven opening with the door open.
