Fisher & Paykel oven functions not working properly?
The selector switch connects the right combination of elements, fan and light for each cooking function, such as bake, fan forced or grill. Its internal contacts wear and burn over time. Faults include some functions working while others do nothing, the oven heating on the wrong elements, the light or fan not coming on, a knob that turns loosely without clicking into position, or a burnt smell from behind the control panel. Because an element can fail in a similar way, test the elements first so you replace the right part.

Replacing the selector switch
This is electrical work on a hard-wired appliance, so have a licensed electrician isolate the oven at the switchboard and fit the switch. Remove the knob, then the control panel, to reach the back of the switch. Photograph every terminal before moving a wire, or transfer the wires one at a time to the matching terminals on the new switch. Test each function once power is restored.
