Cracked or shattered inner oven door glass
The inner glass is the pane you see when you open the oven door, and it faces the full heat of the oven cavity. Together with the other panes it keeps heat in and the outer glass cooler to touch. Glass can crack from a knock with a tray, cold water splashed on a hot pane, harsh scrapers or stress that builds up over years of heating and cooling. A cracked inner pane should be replaced before the oven is used again, as damaged glass can break apart.

Replacing the inner glass
Turn the oven off at the isolating switch and let it go completely cold. Remove the door and lay it on a towel on a flat surface. Note the order and orientation of every pane, spacer and clip as you take it apart, as glass fitted upside down or back to front may not seat properly. Wear cut resistant gloves when handling glass, especially if any pane is broken.
