Fisher & Paykel cooker running too hot or not heating?
A thermostat senses temperature and switches the heating on and off to hold the setting on the dial. As its contacts wear or its sensing element fails, it loses accuracy. Food that burns at normal settings, takes far longer than it should, or never heats at all are typical signs, as is heat that keeps climbing past the setting. Measuring the actual temperature with a thermometer and comparing it with the dial is a simple check before you replace the thermostat.

Who should fit it
Cookers are usually hard-wired, and if your model has gas burners the gas must be isolated as well. Turn off the power at the switchboard and the gas at the appliance valve before any work. A licensed electrician should fit the thermostat, and a licensed gas fitter is needed if any gas fittings are disturbed. Photograph the wiring and note how the sensing element is mounted before removing the old one.
