DeLonghi oven grill not heating?
The top element provides the radiant heat for grilling and, in many ovens, the top heat in conventional bake modes. When it burns out, the grill stays cold, food won't brown on top, or baking comes out pale and uneven because only the bottom element is working. A failed element often shows a visible break, blister or bright flash point along the sheath, and sometimes it trips the safety switch as soon as the grill is turned on. A multimeter check across the terminals confirms an open circuit.

Replacing the top element
Isolate the oven at the switchboard, and use a licensed electrician if it's hard-wired. Let the oven cool, then lower or unscrew the top element from the cavity roof. Depending on the model, the terminals are reached from above or behind, so photograph the wiring before disconnecting it. Fit the new element, reconnect each wire to its original terminal and test the grill.
