The assembly lets a loaded rack glide out far enough to baste, check or lift dishes safely, then return smoothly into the oven.
Fisher & Paykel oven shelf sticking or sliding unevenly?
Sliding shelves rely on runners that extend smoothly under load. Grease, baked-on spills and constant heat cycles gradually wear those runners, so the shelf starts to stick, grind, pull to one side or stop partway out. A bent frame or broken runner can let a dish slide or tilt as you pull it, which is a real risk when the food is hot. If a good clean doesn't restore smooth movement, a new shelf assembly is the fix.

Fitting the new shelf
Wait until the oven is cold. Remove the old shelf, noting the level it sat on and how it engages the side supports. Position the new assembly at the same height, check both sides are engaged, then slide it fully in and out to confirm smooth travel. Wipe off any packaging residue and heat the oven empty for a short time before cooking on the new shelf.
