Product details

562257 is the genuine Fisher & Paykel thermal limiter listed as OS 130, an overheat safety part for F&P ovens. F&P's other limiters in this range carry their trip temperature in the description, so the 130 most likely refers to a 130°C rating, but please compare it with the markings on your old limiter. Compatible models aren't in our records. Check the parts diagram for 562257 or send us your oven model and serial number.

What an oven limiter does and how it fails

Ovens have one or more limiters as a backup to the thermostat. Mounted near hot areas, each one opens its contacts if the temperature there climbs past its set point, cutting power before parts or cabinetry can be damaged. A limiter can fail open with age, leaving the oven without heat or without some functions, or it can trip because something else has gone wrong, such as a stalled cooling fan or blocked vents. An oven that works when cold but cuts out once hot often points to a limiter tripping.

Replacing the OS 130 limiter

Turn the oven off at the switchboard and let it cool. If it's hard wired, a licensed electrician should do the replacement. Check the old limiter with a multimeter first, as an open circuit at room temperature confirms it has failed. Transfer the wires one at a time to the new part, mount it firmly in the same spot, and test the oven through a full heat up.

Questions about this part

Is 130 the trip temperature?

Fisher & Paykel's description lists this limiter as OS 130 without giving units. On comparable F&P limiters the figure is the trip temperature in °C. Check the marking on your old limiter, or send us your oven model and serial number to confirm.
