Product details

545259P is a genuine Fisher & Paykel oven temperature sensor, listed for the brand's steam ovens and supplied as a service part. The sensor reports cavity temperature to the electronic controller, which switches the elements and steam system on and off to hold your setting. Fisher & Paykel uses different sensors across its oven ranges, so check your model before ordering.

Steam oven too hot, too cold or showing an error?

Electronic ovens rely on a sensor to know how hot the cavity is. If it drifts, the oven may overshoot and burn food or never quite reach temperature, so cooking times stop matching the recipe. A sensor that has failed completely usually triggers a fault code and stops the oven heating. Steam ovens add moisture to the mix, which can corrode connections over time. Before replacing, check the plug and wiring at the back, and measure the sensor's resistance against the service figures if you have them.

Replacing the oven sensor

Isolate the oven at the switchboard and let it cool fully, and use a licensed electrician if the oven is hard-wired and you're not qualified. The sensor usually pokes into the cavity near the top rear and is held with screws, with its plug behind the oven. Photograph the connection, swap the sensor, refit any seal or grommet, and run the oven to check it holds temperature.
