Note that the OR60S, OB60S and OB60B use a different element.

Fisher & Paykel oven not heating on fan bake?

The fan element is the circular element behind the fan cover at the back of the oven. When you choose a fan forced function, the fan blows air across it and spreads the heat evenly around the cavity. Once it fails, fan bake and similar functions stay cold or heat very slowly, even though the fan still turns and other functions such as grill may still work. Some elements fail with a visible break or bubbling on the sheath, and some trip the power when the oven switches them on. A resistance check across the terminals confirms an open circuit element.

Fitting the fan element

Isolate the oven at the switchboard before starting, and have a licensed electrician do the job if the oven is hard-wired. Remove the racks and the fan cover inside the cavity, then undo the element fixings. The terminals are usually reached from the back, so the oven may need to come out of the cabinet. Photograph the wiring, fit the new element and test on fan bake.
