Fisher & Paykel oven losing heat around the door?

The oven seal runs around the front of the cavity and presses against the inner door glass when the door shuts. As it ages, it can go brittle, flatten, split or pull away at the corners. Heat then escapes through the gap, so the oven takes longer to reach temperature, food cooks unevenly and the door handle, knobs and nearby cupboards get hotter than they should. Steam or smoke drifting out from the top of the door during cooking is a common giveaway.

Replacing the door seal

Let the oven cool fully and switch it off at the wall or isolator. Open the door as wide as it goes and look at how the old seal is held before removing it carefully. Warm the new seal to room temperature so it is flexible, then fit it starting from the top centre and work evenly around the corners. Close the door and check the seal contacts the glass all the way round.
