Product details
Genuine part 534941 is a control knob assembly for Fisher & Paykel cooktops, identified by the GFL reference in its description. It's supplied as a knob assembly rather than a bare knob. Knobs vary between cooktop ranges in shape, finish and fitting, so check 534941 against the parts list for your cooktop's model and serial number before ordering, or compare it with the knob you're replacing.
Cooktop knob cracked, loose or spinning?
A control knob does more than look tidy. It grips the spindle of the gas valve or energy regulator and lets you set the heat precisely. Heat from pans, spills and years of turning wear the insert that grips the spindle, crack the knob body or rub off its markings. A knob that spins without turning the control, wobbles, or no longer shows the off position clearly is both annoying and a safety problem, especially on gas. Replacing it restores proper control.

Fitting the new knob
Make sure every burner or zone is off and the cooktop has cooled. Pull the old knob straight up, without levering against the glass or stainless top. Line the new knob up with the flat on the spindle and push it down firmly. Turn it through its range to check it returns to off and doesn't rub on the surface.
Questions about this part
Do I need one knob per burner?
Yes. Each burner or zone has its own knob. Order one for each knob you're replacing, and if several are faded or cracked, replacing them together keeps the cooktop looking uniform.
