Gas cooktop igniter clicking non-stop or not sparking
Behind each control knob on a gas cooktop sits a gas valve with a small microswitch. Pressing the knob closes the switch, and the ignition module fires the electrodes until the burner lights. This harness wires all five switch positions together. Spills that run down the valve stems, heat and age can damage the switches or the loom itself. Typical signs are igniters that keep clicking after the knob is released, no spark from any burner, sparking that only works from some knobs, or a safety switch that trips when the cooktop is powered up.

Replacing the microswitch harness

Fit the new harness in the same positions, keep the wiring clear of hot surfaces and burner tubes, then test every knob for a clean spark.
