It lets the drain hose reach a waste connection further from the cabinet than the standard hose allows. When a DishDrawer needs a drain hose extension

Each drawer pumps its waste water out through a drain hose to the sink trap or standpipe. During a renovation, or when a DishDrawer moves to a new spot in the kitchen, the drain point can end up beyond the reach of the supplied hose. Stretching a hose tight, or joining it with a mismatched fitting, invites kinks, leaks and slow draining. If water sits in the drawer after a cycle, check the hose run for kinks and blockages as well.

Installing the extension

Turn the dishwasher off at the wall and close the water supply before pulling the unit out. Follow the installation instructions for your model, as they set the maximum hose length and the height the hose must loop up to before dropping to the drain. Push each connection fully home, secure the hose so it cannot kink behind the cabinet, then run a rinse and check every joint for leaks.
