LG top loaders in the WF-T series use this AC drain motor to open the drain and free the spin brake. Part 5250FA1731P is the genuine LG motor assembly, listed for 35 models such as the WF-T502A and WF-T652A, the WF-T752A and WF-T852A, and also the WTG8520. Some suppliers call it a spin brake damper motor, so you may see it described that way too.
LG top loader not draining or spinning
In these LG top loaders, the drain motor doesn't pump water. It pulls a linkage that opens the drain valve, and the same movement releases the spin brake so the bowl can turn. If the motor burns out or its gears strip, the water stays in the bowl and the machine stops with a drain error, or it drains slowly and never reaches full spin speed. A hum with no movement at the drain stage is another clue. Check the drain hose and valve for blockages before blaming the motor.

Fitting the drain motor
Unplug the washer and bail out any water left in the bowl. The motor is usually reached from underneath, so tilt the machine back or lay it down carefully on a blanket. Note how the cable or lever hooks onto the drain valve and photograph the wiring. After fitting, run a spin cycle and confirm the water drains and the bowl spins freely.
Questions about this part
Is this the same as a drain pump?
No. This motor doesn't pump water. It opens the drain valve so water runs out by gravity, and it also releases the spin brake. If your LG uses a pump instead, you need a different part.
