5221JA2006A is LG's genuine three way inlet valve, used on LG fridges that are plumbed to mains water, and it comes with its connecting nut. The valve is listed for 25 LG models, among them the GR-L207DTUA and GR-P207DTUA, GR-L247STSL and GR-P247STSL fridges, the GR-L257STS and the GC-L197STF. The GW-L227STS and GW-P227STS are on the list too.

LG fridge not making ice, no water or leaking at the back

Mains water enters the fridge through this valve. When the dispenser or ice maker calls for water, the control powers the right solenoid coil and the valve opens to let water through. A coil that has burnt out leaves the dispenser dry or the ice maker empty, while a cracked body or a valve that won't shut off fully can drip, wet the floor or overfill the ice tray. Low household water pressure and a clogged water filter can mimic a faulty valve, so check those first.

Three way or four way? Check before fitting

Count the outlets on your old valve before ordering, because this is a three way valve. LG advise in a technical bulletin that fridges needing a four way valve can use 5221JB2006M, and the frame may need slight modification. To fit, unplug the fridge, turn off the water at the isolation tap, label the wires and tubes, swap the valve over and check every joint for leaks once the water is back on.
