Cold water entering the machine runs through this valve, which sends it to different outlets as the program needs.
LG washer not filling properly? Test the cold valve
Inside, a set of electric coils opens the valve's outlets, and the control board picks which ones to energise at each point in the cycle. A failed coil can stop water reaching one dispenser compartment, so you might find powder left in the drawer or the softener not used. A valve that won't open at all stops the wash at the fill stage with an error, while a valve that leaks through keeps water trickling into the drum even when the machine is off. Tips for fitting the cold valve
Turn off the taps and unplug the washer before working on it. The valve sits at the back of the machine under the top panel, where the cold hose connects. Mark each internal hose and wiring plug with tape before pulling them off, as mixing them up sends water to the wrong compartment. Once fitted, open the cold tap and run a rinse program to check every outlet fills without drips.
