Five outlets in one body make part 5221EA1008L a little different from a basic washer valve. This genuine LG 5 way inlet valve assembly feeds water into the WT-R10686, WT-R10806 and WT-R10856 top loaders, plus the WTR1132BF and WTR1132WF. Having several outlets lets the machine send water down different paths, such as through the dispensers, depending on the stage of the program.
Signs the inlet valve on an LG top loader has failed
The valve has several solenoid coils, and the control board switches them on in different combinations through the wash. If one coil fails, only part of the program misbehaves, for example the softener never dispensing or the wash filling with only cold water. A fully failed valve leaves the tub empty with an inlet error. Water dribbling into the tub with the power off points to a valve stuck open. Low water pressure and clogged inlet screens give similar symptoms, so rule those out first.

Replacing the 5 way valve
Close both taps and switch off at the wall. Remove the hoses at the back and lift the top panel or control housing to get to the valve. With five outlets and several coils, label each internal hose and wire before removing anything, or take clear photos from a few angles. Fit the new valve, reconnect everything in the same order, then run a short program and check each stage fills.
