LG washer not filling or overfilling? Check the inlet valve
The inlet valve sits where the hose connects at the back of the machine. Each coil on the valve opens its own outlet when the control board sends power, so the machine can fill through different paths at different stages of the cycle. When a coil burns out or a diaphragm inside wears, you can get a machine that won't fill, fills very slowly, fails to flush detergent from one compartment, or keeps trickling water in even when it's switched off. A blocked filter screen in the hose inlet can cause slow filling too, so check that first.

Replacing a 4 way inlet valve
Unplug the washer, turn off the tap and disconnect the inlet hose, keeping a bucket handy. The valve is usually reached by taking off the top panel. Label each small hose and each wire plug against its coil before removing anything, since mixing them up sends water to the wrong place. Fit the new valve, reconnect everything and test with a short wash.

If the tap is on, the hose filter is clear and the machine still won't fill, the valve is a likely cause. A technician can test each coil with a multimeter. Water dribbling in while the washer is off also points to a valve that isn't sealing.
