Rangehood fan or light not responding to the buttons?
The control box houses the circuit board that takes your button presses and switches the fan speeds and lights. When the board fails, the rangehood might not turn on at all, run on one speed only, refuse to switch off, or have lights that stay on or won't light. Grease and steam getting into the box, and power surges, are the usual culprits. Before ordering, check that power reaches the hood and that the lamps and motor are sound, since a blown globe or seized motor can look like a control fault.

Fitting the control box
Turn the rangehood off and unplug it, or isolate the circuit if it is hard-wired, in which case a licensed electrician should do the work. Remove the grease filters to reach the control area. Photograph every wire and plug before disconnecting the old box. Fit the new assembly, check the buttons line up with the switches on the board, then test each fan speed and the lights.
