Fridge dairy door cracked or not staying shut?
The dairy door closes off the small compartment at the top of the fridge door where butter, cheese and spreads are kept. It shelters that food from the blast of cold air each time the fridge door swings open, so butter stays easier to spread. Its hinge pins and lugs are small and get a lot of use, so they snap, and the plastic can crack if it is knocked or washed in a hot dishwasher. A broken cover usually hangs open, rattles in the door or falls off altogether.

Fitting the dairy door
Most dairy doors clip into place without tools. Open the fridge door, ease out the old cover or any broken pieces and wipe the hinge points clean. Line the new door up with its pivots, press it in until both sides click into place and check it opens and closes smoothly. Wash it by hand in warm soapy water rather than in the dishwasher.
