The cam door stop spacer sits at the hinge of the food compartment door. Its shaped cam works with the hinge to control the door's travel, helping the door stop at its full open point and settle back closed. When the spacer cracks, wears flat or goes missing, the door can swing open further than it should and hit nearby cabinets, sag slightly on its hinge, or fail to close properly and leave a gap at the seal. That gap lets warm air in, so the fridge runs longer and frost can build up.

Fitting the cam stop spacer
Switch the fridge off at the wall and empty the door shelves to take weight off the hinge. Depending on the model, the door may need to be lifted off its hinge pin to reach the spacer, so have a helper support it. Note which way the cam faces on the old part before removing it, fit the new spacer the same way and refit the door. Check the door opens to its stop and closes and seals evenly.
