What the pulsator cap does on an LG top loader

The pulsator is the plate at the bottom of the wash bowl that moves clothes around. Its centre is held onto the drive shaft by a bolt, and the cap covers that bolt. Without it, small items like socks, coins and underwire can catch on the bolt head, and fabric can snag or tear. Water and detergent also sit on the exposed fixing, which encourages corrosion and makes the pulsator harder to remove later. Fitting a pulsator cap
