This genuine LG door gasket, part 4986ER1005C, is the version with a hole in the boot, and LG also lists it as 4986EN1003B. It's on file for front loaders such as the WD11020D and WD12020D, the WD13020D, WD14022D6 and WD1402CRD6, and the older WD-1433RD and WD-1435RD models. Fit it when the old seal is torn, perished or growing mould that won't scrub off.

LG washer leaking from the door

The gasket is the flexible rubber boot that links the cabinet front to the tub, sealing against the glass when the door closes. It flexes every time the drum moves, so after years of use it can split along a fold, get punctured by a coin or underwire, or harden and crack. Water dripping from under the door during the wash is the classic sign. Black mould that has soaked into the rubber, a lingering musty smell and pockets of trapped water are other good reasons to replace it.

Tips for fitting an LG door seal

Unplug the washer and turn off the taps. Remove the outer clamp band, peel the gasket off the front panel, then release the inner clamp holding it to the tub. Line up the hole and any marks on the new seal with the old one's position, refit the inner clamp first and finish with the outer band. Run a rinse cycle to check for leaks.
