4970FR2084L Genuine Hinge Spring for LG Washing Machines, LG Washer Hinge Tension Spring, LG Spring Hinge Replacement

4970FR2084L is a genuine LG hinge spring listed for LG washing machines. A hinge spring adds tension to a hinge so the part it carries opens, closes or holds its position the way it should. There's no model list on file for this spring, so compare the number with your old part or your machine's parts list. LG numbers often differ only in the final letter, so check every character.

LG washer hinge spring worn or broken?

Springs in a hinge do the work of holding a lid, flap or door steady. Once the spring snaps or loses its tension, the part it supports may flop open, drop shut, refuse to stay up or feel loose in your hand. A broken spring can also let the hinge rattle during the spin. Because the spring is under tension, a failed one is often found in pieces near the hinge. Replacing just the spring costs less than a whole hinge when the rest of the hinge is still sound.

Fitting the hinge spring

Unplug the washing machine before you start. Springs store energy, so wear safety glasses and keep fingers clear while you hook it in. Photograph the old spring in place first so you can see which way the ends sit. Once fitted, open and close the hinge a few times to check it moves smoothly and holds where it should.
